Choosing an efficiency level

SEER2 measures cooling efficiency across a season. A 19 SEER2 variable speed unit costs more up front and runs at partial capacity most of the time, which improves both comfort and humidity control. A 14.3 SEER2 single stage unit is cheaper to buy and simpler to service. The payback period depends on your run hours and electricity rate — in Arkansas's long cooling season, higher efficiency pays back faster than it would further north.

R-454B refrigerant

Every unit here uses R-454B, the low-GWP refrigerant that became standard for equipment manufactured from 2025. It is a mildly flammable A2L refrigerant, which means installation requires an EPA-certified technician with specific A2L training. It is not compatible with older R-410A indoor equipment.

What else you need
