Description

Frigidaire 2 Ton 14.3 SEER2 Heat Pump & Air Handler System Overview

The Frigidaire 2 Ton heat pump and air handler system is a factory-matched, all-electric HVAC system delivering 23,400 BTU of heating and cooling from a single outdoor unit. An all-electric matched system: a 23,000 BTU heat pump paired with its matched electric air handler and a 10 kW supplemental heat kit. No gas line, no combustion venting, no flue. One outdoor unit handles both heating and cooling. AHRI certified under certificate 209456769.

What’s Included in This System

Heat Pump Condenser — FSH3BE4M1SP24K

A 2 ton, 23,000 BTU heat pump rated at 14.3 SEER2. Unlike a straight air conditioning condenser, it reverses in winter to move heat into the home rather than out of it.

Electric Air Handler — B64BMMX24K-B

The matched indoor unit housing the evaporator coil and blower. In a heat pump system this replaces the furnace entirely.

Heat Kit — H8HK010H-11

A 10 kW electric resistance heat strip providing supplemental heat when outdoor temperatures fall below the heat pump’s efficient operating range, and backup heat during defrost cycles. Included.

Heat Pump or Gas Furnace? An Honest Comparison for Arkansas

Worth thinking through before you order, because it is expensive to change later.

A heat pump makes sense when: you have no natural gas service, your winters are mild, your electricity rate is reasonable, or you want one system doing both jobs with no combustion, no flue and no gas line to maintain.

A gas furnace makes sense when: you already have gas service, your winters regularly drop into the teens, or your electric rate is high. Below roughly 35–40°F a heat pump leans increasingly on its resistance heat strips, and electric resistance heat is expensive to run.

Central Arkansas winters sit largely within the range where heat pumps perform well, with the heat strips carrying a modest number of genuinely cold days. For many homes that is a sound trade — but it depends on your electric rate and how well the house holds heat. If you have gas service and cold snaps matter to you, compare our gas furnace systems before deciding.

Is a 2 Ton System Right for Your Home?

A 2 ton system generally suits homes of roughly 900–1,200 square feet in a hot-humid climate like Arkansas. Treat that as a starting point rather than an answer — ceiling height, insulation quality, window area and orientation, duct condition and shading all move the number substantially.

Oversizing is the more expensive mistake. A system too large for the space cools quickly, shuts off, and never runs long enough to pull humidity out of the air. The result is a cold, clammy house and a compressor that short-cycles its way to an early failure. Undersizing costs you comfort on the hottest days; oversizing costs you the equipment.

If you are replacing an existing system, matching the old tonnage is only sound reasoning if the old system actually kept up. If it struggled through August, get a Manual J load calculation before you order. One difference worth noting: on a heat pump, heating and cooling capacity are closely matched (23,000 BTU cooling against 23,400 BTU heating), which is not how a gas system is sized.

Installation Requirements

  • Professional installation required — self-installation voids the manufacturer warranty
  • Adequate electrical service for the heat pump plus a 10 kW heat kit — this often requires a panel review
  • Dedicated circuit and disconnect for the air handler
  • No gas line, flue or combustion venting required
  • Line set, thermostat, pad and whip sold separately

Electrical capacity is the item to check first. A 2 ton heat pump with a 10 kW heat kit draws substantial current, and older panels sometimes need upgrading. Have an electrician confirm capacity before the equipment ships — it is the most common surprise cost on a heat pump conversion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do heat pumps actually work through an Arkansas winter?

Yes, for most of the season. Below roughly 35–40°F the heat pump increasingly relies on the electric heat strips, which cost more to run. Central Arkansas winters sit largely within the efficient range, with a modest number of days where the strips carry the load.

What is the heat kit for?

The H8HK010H-11 is a 10 kW electric resistance heater that supplements the heat pump on cold days and provides heat during defrost cycles. It is included in this system.

Do I need a gas line?

No. This is an all-electric system — no gas supply, no combustion venting, no flue. For homes without existing gas service that is usually the deciding factor.

Will my electrical panel handle this?

Check before ordering. A 2 ton heat pump plus a 10 kW heat kit draws significant current and older panels sometimes need an upgrade. Have an electrician verify capacity first.

What refrigerant does this system use?

Contact us to confirm the refrigerant charge for this model before ordering, particularly if you are reusing an existing line set.

What is the difference between the Residential and Commercial shipping options?

Residential delivery includes a lift gate to lower the equipment to ground level. Commercial delivery assumes a terminal dock, forklift or loading dock is available. The correct charge is applied automatically at checkout.

For Contractors and Trade Buyers

The AHRI certificate number for this matched pair is 209456769. That reference is what utility rebate programmes and most permit offices ask for as proof the outdoor unit, coil and indoor unit are a certified match, so keep it with your paperwork when you file. All component model numbers are listed above for your load calculation and equipment schedule. Homeowners claiming an efficiency rebate will usually be asked for the same certificate number.

Shipping & Delivery

Select Residential or Commercial delivery at the top of this page. Residential delivery includes a lift gate so the equipment can be lowered to ground level. Commercial delivery assumes a terminal dock, forklift or loading dock is available. Your shipping charge is calculated automatically at checkout based on that selection.

Inspect the crate before you sign the bill of lading. Once you sign clean, freight damage claims become very difficult to pursue. Photograph any dents, punctures or shifted packaging and note them on the delivery paperwork before the driver leaves.
